Stantec is currently seeking a Consultant Ecologist to join our growing team. You will form a valuable part of our ecology team and will work alongside our multidisciplinary teams to identify and advise on ecology-related compliance risks associated with the planning system, including Biodiversity Net Gain, protected species, and invasive non-native species. You will support the Lead Ecologist and work with the other teams regionally to provide ecological support, including undertaking field surveys, writing reports, and undertaking BNG assessments. You will also have the opportunity to assist the Lead Ecologist in managing relations with environmental and wildlife groups, charities, regulators, and other stakeholders. You will hold a minimum BSc degree in ecology or a similar environmental discipline. You should have proven experience within a professional ecological consultancy and a track record of managing ecology matters on simple projects or specific species on more complex ones. You will be skilled in conducting UKHab surveys and habitat condition assessments and utilising the Statutory Biodiversity Metric (or previous versions). Additionally, it would help if you had a strong understanding of PEAs, protected species surveys, assessments, relevant legislation, policy, and the planning process. Good IT skills, including understanding GIS systems (e.g., ArcGIS), are essential. You should be able to assist in embedding biodiversity into our programs and streamline reporting. A proven ability to collaborate effectively, produce well-written and concise reports, present results, and communicate clearly within a multidisciplinary team is crucial. A full UK driving license and willingness to travel are also required. Ideally, you will also have:

Membership of CIEEM, IEMA, or a similar organisation A protected species survey license for at least one species (e.g., great crested newt, bats) About Stantec
