Head of Perishables Department

to be based at offices in the

London Heathrow area. On Offer: An opportunity to join a world-class logistics company with great potential for future growth A dynamic and highly rewarding senior leadership role An attractive salary based on experience plus benefits which includes increasing holiday allowance and pension scheme Opportunity to add value and play a key role in the organisation's growth Main Purpose of the role: Reporting to the CEO and managing a team of 7 within the perishables department, utilising strong relationship building and account management skills to maintain and develop relationships with suppliers. Key Responsibilities for the Head of Perishables Department: Account Management & Growth Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of high-value perishable import clients Develop and maintain long-term relationships, ensuring a deep understanding of each customer's business needs Identify opportunities to expand and enhance service offerings, driving account growth and profitability Operational Coordination Oversee the end-to-end logistics process for perishable freight including booking, documentation, and delivery Coordinate closely with operations, customs, and warehouse teams to ensure timely and cost-effective handling Proactively manage any delays or disruptions, quickly resolving issues to maintain product integrity Relationship Building Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Sales, Operations, Finance) to offer tailored logistics solutions Conduct regular business reviews with clients to assess performance and explore new service opportunities Procurement & Supplier Management Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers (e.g., airlines, shipping lines, hauliers) Negotiate and optimize supplier contracts to ensure competitive pricing and high service quality Monitor supplier performance, addressing concerns and coordinating improvements to maintain service standards To Be Considered Proven track record within freight forwarding working with perishable items Proven team leader with exceptional management skills Strong knowledge of import procedures, customs regulations, and documentation processes Strong account management skills Strong commercial and procurement skills Team player and an excellent communicator For more details, please contact Willis Global -
