This post is a full-time position (10PA) with responsibility for management of Rheumatology outpatient clinics and partake in the "Rheumatologist of the week" rota (1:5). Main duties of the job

Rheumatology Clinics The Rheumatology clinics include General Clinics, Early Arthritis Clinics (with access to MSK ultrasound), and Telephone Clinics. The traditional clinic template includes 2 x 30 min new appointments, 2 x 30 min urgent follow-ups, and 4 x 15 min routine follow-ups. Current templates are subject to change in line with hospital policy. Rheumatologist of the week The ROW rota (currently 1:4, to be 1:5 with this post) includes providing an in-reach service for inpatients with registrar support (2-3 referrals per week), and referrals triage/advice and guidance on ERS (50 referrals per week). During this week, there are 4 Urgent ROW clinics (5 x 30 min appointments 10:00-12:30) Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday in place of usual clinics. ROW is expected to be based at the Stoke Mandeville site during that week. The post holder will also participate in clinical pathway or service development, which will be negotiated on starting in post. The post holder will be expected to provide support for the specialist nurses and junior trainees. The post includes 1 teaching clinic per week to teach medical undergraduate students from University of Buckingham Medical School, with the option to expand to Oxford University and St. George's Medical School. The job plan for the post is based on 10 PAs divided into 8 DCC and 2 SPAs (1.5 PA for Core SPA including 0.25 PA for lead on service development and 0.25 PA for departmental managerial role). An additional 0.25 PA is available per trainee for educational supervision. Training and support will be given for these roles. About us

Qualifications/Training

MBBS or equivalent. CCT in Rheumatology. OR Registration on GMC Specialist Register in CCT in Rheumatology. OR within six months of achieving CCT at the time of interview. GMC registered qualifications. Specialty-specific exam. Appropriate higher degree (MD, PhD). CCT in General Medicine. OR Registration on GMC Specialist Register in CCT in General Internal Medicine. Experience

General training in Rheumatology to specialist level or equivalent. 5 years WTE minimum at SpR level in higher specialty training. Experience of decision-making at Consultant Level. Experience of teaching doctors-in-training and undergraduates. Experience of clinical audit/research. General training in General Internal Medicine. Interest in subspecialty such as connective tissue disease, vasculitis, MSK ultrasound. Research experience/publications. Skills, Knowledge and Personal Attributes

Knowledge of the organisation of the NHS and the Government's agenda for its modernisation. Excellent communication (spoken and written) skills. Management training and experience. IT Skills. Driving licence. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
