This is an exciting opportunity to work in a stunning area of New Zealand with a Mediterranean climate. You will have opportunities to develop sub-specialist interests that will complement the department's current service. We also have close ties with allied health departments and other specialties that we interact with, as well as regional and tertiary services to provide a comprehensive package of care. To be eligible for this role, you must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand and must be a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, or equivalent. Community and Lifestyle
The possibilities for private practice are some of the best in New Zealand, with the current maxillofacial surgeon having a very large head and neck and skin referral base, along with a thriving dentoalveolar surgery practice. Hawke's Bay is famous for its excellent seaside 'Mediterranean' climate, wine, food, cultural events and outdoor recreational activities. There is a strong sense of community. It is a wonderful place to raise children with a number of excellent schools that receive national recognition.
