As an integral member of the team, the post holder will demonstrate excellent communication and clinical skills and have some nursing experience working alongside children, as well as being flexible to work with different staff teams providing nursing care across Hull & East Riding. The role will incorporate caring for children and their families within a range of environments, including mainstream and special needs schools, home, and other care or respite settings. The service covers acute and complex conditions, special school nursing, support of acute and chronic continence conditions, community children's nursing including palliative and end of life care when needed. Qualifications
Registered Nurse Registered Nurse - RN(Child), RSCN Educated to Degree level Post registration training relevant to role and evidence of continuing professional development Knowledge
Understanding of child development and the well child, along with recognition of the sick child and evidence of up to date clinical skills Knowledge in relation to health needs of children being cared for in the community Proficient with information technology, e.g. electronic care records, administration systems and emails etc Good understanding of local current safeguarding policies and guidelines Ability to delegate duties and prioritise workload Experience
Post registration experience of working with children/young people, and families Experience of completing developmentally appropriate health needs assessments for children and young people Experience of formal or informal teaching and a willingness to develop/contribute to teaching and training programmes Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to effectively engage with multi-disciplinary teams and other health professionals Experience of multiagency working Experience of working in a community setting Disclosure and Barring Service Check
