An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, experienced, and motivated Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to support the Band 7 and team of nursing staff within the Stroke Unit at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. You will be an experienced RGN and be able to lead and assess the work of the nursing team, building upon your own clinical and managerial experience. You will be able to role model continuous professional behaviour and demonstrate through personal behaviour the core values of the Trust. You will be able to evidence an enthusiastic, approachable, and friendly manner towards patients, nursing, and the multidisciplinary team. You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive management style, anticipating and dealing with issues constructively within the multidisciplinary team setting. You must be flexible in your approach to the role and respond appropriately to the demands of an ever-changing workload. You will be instrumental in ensuring the continuous improvement of the Stroke Unit, maintaining excellent standards of care and ensuring that service users are treated with the utmost respect and dignity. Main duties of the job

Instrumental in supporting the Band 7 with the continuous improvement of the department, effectively monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of care that are reflected by patient experience. Proven ability in supervising, managing, and controlling the activities of a department in an efficient and effective manner, involving the assessment and implementation of appropriate care for new and current patients whilst ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained and resources used appropriately. Maintain and facilitate flow effectively within the department to ensure adequate capacity for our Stroke patients. Show commitment and direction to the team as a whole, actively participating in the teaching, training, and supervision of all grades of staff. Be receptive to change, dynamic, and demonstrate active assistance and support to senior colleagues in the ongoing development of the department. About us

Professional / Technical Qualifications

RGN, Paediatric specialties RSCN, Operating Theatres RGN or Registered ODP. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development/qualification relevant to area of speciality. Experience and Knowledge

Extensive post-registration experience in the relevant speciality or equivalent. High-level clinical skills and knowledge. Evidence of successfully coordinating, managing, and leading the team on a day-to-day basis. Evidence of teaching ability. Evidence in undertaking preceptor/mentorship role. Involvement in Nursing audit and Research. An awareness and understanding of policy and practice relevant to speciality. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
