Role Value Proposition: We are looking for experienced Group Risk Underwriters to help MetLife become the best in the Employee Benefits market. We need Underwriters with a good ability to assess risk and decide where to price the risk within company strategy and guidelines. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for underwriting Jumbo and large premium Group Life and/or Group Income Protection quotations for renewals and new business in a timely manner within agreed internal procedures. Support key strategic relationships within Sales, Actuarial and other business departments by making pragmatic and commercially focused underwriting decisions. Train less experienced members of the Employee Benefits division and check their work against agreed procedures. Act as a Senior Mentor for Associate Underwriters. Represent the Underwriting department in key Client Relationship meetings. Provide technical underwriting support to the Sales team where appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager. Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: Required: Experience working in an Underwriting function for Group Life and/or Group Income Protection products. Able to handle the demands of a fast-paced environment, managing own work and deadlines. A desire to proactively learn and develop. Experience in supporting key clients (brokers) and attending client visits. Strong technical mentoring experience with Associate Underwriters. Ability to challenge existing ways of working for the best outcome.
