This is a part-time role (3 days per week, possibly 4 if preferred) and is fully office based. Job Description The Payroll Officer (Part-time) role involves: Lead, manage, and develop the payroll to ensure accurate and efficient payroll service in compliance with statutory, national and local policies. Calculate and ensure timely payment of taxes to HMRC, including PAYE, NIC and relevant levies. Accurately calculate and deduct statutory and other payroll deductions, ensuring compliance with all payroll regulations. Maintain strong relationships with all pension providers, manage monthly pension processes and reporting, ensuring compliance with pension legislation. Prepare monthly payroll journals and accounts reconciliations for management reporting. Calculate monthly wages accrual for hourly paid staff. Provide payroll and pension data to external auditors for year-end audit. Report on headcount. P11D submissions, P45's and P60's. Ensuring employee records are maintained and up to date. Update and maintain policies, procedures, and practices to ensure legal compliance and best practice, including maintaining staff handbook. Manage payroll assistant. Ability to communicate with HMRC and handle queries that may arise. Ensure HR policies are kept up to date. Ensure HR compliance is continually reviewed and kept up to date. Advise on changes in payroll / HR legislation and the impact on the business. Monitor employee sick leave and ensure procedures are in place to minimise sick leave. Ad hoc tasks to assist the department. The Successful Applicant A successful Payroll Officer (Part-time) should have: Previous experience within Payroll. Experience with either ADP or Sage Payroll is desirable. Must live within a commutable distance as this is an office based role.
