As a Registered Nurse within the Orthopaedic Outpatient Department, the post-holder will work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide specialised and individualised care to orthopaedic and trauma patients, both adult and paediatric. The post-holder will support and lead the team to facilitate efficient and effective running of the department. The post-holder will maintain a high standard of patient care under the direction of the department Sister/Charge Nurse, taking the lead in clinical areas, when competent, in the absence of a senior member of staff. At all times, they will work in accordance with the principles governed by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and Trust Policies. This role requires the registered nurse to practice in accordance with the NMC professional values and behaviours: care, compassion, communication, commitment, competence, and courage, and demonstrate commitment to always deliver excellent care to patients. Main duties of the job

Duties of a Registered Nurse within the Orthopaedic Outpatient Department include: wound care and dressings application and management of plaster casts and splints patient education and support in managing injuries and long-term health conditions chaperoning and advocacy duties inter-disciplinary collaboration assistance with administration of medications (including injection of joints) assistance with invasive procedures such as aspirations of joints and manipulation of fractures and dislocations preparation, organisation and running of clinics (including nurse-led clinics) team management duties About us

Qualifications

Registered Nurse with the NMC Degree/Diploma in Nursing Supervisor and Assessor qualification Experience

Post-Registration nursing experience of looking after patients in a hospital setting Skills, abilities, and knowledge

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team Knowledge of professional issues in nursing incorporating NMC, IPAC, clinical governance, and risk management issues Good interpersonal and communication skills Ability to provide individualised nursing care Disclosure and Barring Service Check
