Dumfries and Galloway's approach to education looks to combine the traditional values, ethos and atmosphere of this unique corner of Scotland with fresh 21st century thinking. At Dumfries High School, we are committed to providing the very best educational experiences and opportunities while developing our young people as leaders and responsible citizens who will make a significant difference in the school community and beyond. We work in partnership with our parents and carers, associated primary schools, local community members, and most importantly, our young people. We are seeking to appoint a Pupil Equity Worker to work 30 hours per week over 39 weeks per year (term time). This post is fixed term until July 2025 and may be suitable for secondment, with prior agreement from your line manager required before applying. The successful applicant will work alongside the Pupil Support Faculty to support specific groups of pupils in raising their attainment, attendance, increasing opportunities, and maximizing their wellbeing. This role involves collaborating with families and teachers and facilitating inputs related to teaching and learning. The right candidate will be effective at motivating and engaging students and their families in their education and future. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to the formal offer of employment by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, will need to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check. Here at Dumfries and Galloway Council, we are committed to equality, diversity, and equal opportunity. Our values include treating everyone with dignity, fairness, and respect, and we strive to tackle inequality. We welcome applications from individuals who can bring different perspectives and experiences, especially those who are underrepresented in our organization.
