About The Role This is an exciting new role responsible for managing the delivery of all Fareham Housing’s responsive repair functions. You’ll ensure that repairs are delivered effectively and efficiently, within budgets, and with high levels of customer satisfaction. You’ll provide support and leadership to a team of approximately 24 employees (currently including three direct line reports, with further teams of trades and administration services) and undertake contract management responsibilities for repair works not undertaken by our in-house repair team. We need you to provide technical building repairs advice and guidance to Senior Management and to the team, to ensure the most appropriate work is undertaken to preserve housing assets, whilst having awareness of costs. You’ll also contribute to the Council’s Carbon Reduction objectives, by seeking opportunities to improve the energy performance of Council homes.

About You It is vital that the right person can lead a team in an open and positive way and can inspire and motivate others to work to the best of their abilities. A building surveyor background including a related buildings qualification is really important along with a willingness to undertake further learning. Comprehensive and advanced building knowledge including construction, trades and contract management, with demonstrable experience in these fields is vital. The right person for Fareham will have all these attributes underpinned by a real sense of pride in doing a good job.

About Us In this new post, you will have an exciting opportunity to really make your mark! As a smaller Local Authority social landlord, you will have the opportunity to make a big difference in how we work. With around 2,500 Council homes, Fareham Borough Council is the largest provider of social housing in the Borough, and our repairs service is often the main point of contact for many of our housing tenants. We are proud of our customer-focused ethos, and in this role you will support a corporate culture which encourages innovation, creates trust and respect throughout the service in a safe, open and equitable environment. The Council has a reputation for delivering excellent services to our residents, thanks to our loyal and hard-working teams, who all share our pride in the borough. Fareham Borough Council is a great place to work and you would be joining an organisation that has a real family feel to it. We take pride in receiving feedback from others who say we are a friendly and professional organisation. We aim to attract, develop, and retain the very best people. We offer a great pension scheme, authorised parking, flexible and hybrid working, and a car lease scheme to name a few of the benefits of working for us. You can find more information on our values and the structure of the team for this post in the Job Details document. To arrange an informal discussion about this vacancy, please contact Shaun Barnett, Property Manager (Housing) on sbarnett@fareham.gov.uk. Interviews are planned for the 4 February 2025.
