Week commencing 20th January 2025 About the role: As the Deputy Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a high-quality support service for adults with a range of needs, ensuring the service adheres to all relevant legislative and performance standards, and contract compliance. You will be required to work with both females and males, be fully flexible, and work some evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. You may also be asked to do an occasional sleep-in and provide regular out-of-hours on-call support for which additional payment will be made. You may be required to complete some frontline support shifts as part of the role. The main responsibilities of the Deputy Manager will include: Working within the values and spirit of the organisation to engage, enable, and empower customers to achieve their goals and ambitions through a person-centred approach. Developing and motivating support workers to be positive and enthusiastic about their work and to deliver high-quality, personalised support. Working with the service manager to develop systems that enable support hours to be used creatively and flexibly to meet the needs of the people we support. Leading your team to develop support plans and risk assessments that reflect people's needs, preferences, and aspirations; creating a culture where plans are actively implemented and reviewed. Delivering a service that meets and aims to exceed the expectations of the people supported, their funders, the local authority, and relevant standards of care. About you: You will be an excellent communicator, able to liaise effectively with key stakeholders. You will easily interpret and apply policy into practice, including principles and practices of safeguarding adults at risk, budget management, health and safety, and upholding the rights of customers. Essential skills and experience include: Experience of managing a service for people with a learning disability/autism is preferable. Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with key stakeholders, including multi-disciplinary health professionals, family carers, and the people we support. Experience of staff management and the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a large team, ensuring staff are appropriately trained. Ability to think creatively and be adaptable in approaches, with experience of implementing emergency management guidance to support staff. Experience of carrying out needs assessments and creating support and risk management plans for people with behaviours of concern. A commitment to providing high-quality, personalised active support. Leading by example, you will uphold the rights of people we support to be involved at all levels of decision-making. Shared values and passion to engage, enable, and empower people with autism or a learning disability to lead the lives they want. Knowledge of managing a budget is desirable. The organisation supports people who are known to present behaviours of concern by using the Positive Behaviour Support model because PBS puts the person first. Existing knowledge/experience in following the PBS approach would be beneficial but not essential as extensive training is provided. A shared value of understanding and supporting a person’s behaviour and finding ways to work with them to improve this is essential.
