This nurse-led service requires the post holder to work autonomously in ensuring the safe co-ordination, triage clinical assessment, treatment planning, decision making, and diagnosis during the patient's care pathway. The post holder must be proactive in the development and implementation of the clinical service and long-term strategic direction of the Acute Oncology service, maintaining compliance, ensuring person-centred care, and evaluating the patient experience across the service.

Main Duties of the Job The post holder will support the cancer services and oncology teams to provide clinical, professional, and managerial leadership, ensuring high standards of evidence-based practice. This nurse-led service requires the post holder to work autonomously in ensuring the safe coordination, triage clinical assessment, treatment planning, decision making, and diagnosis during the patient's care pathway. The post holder must be proactive in the development and implementation of the clinical service and long-term strategic direction of the Acute Oncology service, maintaining compliance, ensuring person-centred care, and evaluating the patient experience across the service.

The post holder is a key member of the Acute Oncology Service to ensure safe care to patients and service users and maintain a safe environment for all according to local and national standards. The expectation for the practitioner is to promote effective workplace cultures across the new team, support acute oncology pathways within the organization to sustain person-centred safe effective care. As part of this team, the post may require the holder to work on other sites with East Kent Hospital Trust to meet service requirements and to ensure that staff maintain and develop their skills. In addition to covering the acute oncology service, the post holder will be expected to support brain, CUP, and sarcoma patients.

Person Specification Knowledge

Knowledge of cancer pathways, able to write reports and generate data, able to present written and verbal handovers.

Qualifications

RGN, NMC registration, degree, teaching.

Non-medical prescribing, master's degree, clinical skills and examination, service development.

Skills

Advanced clinical assessment, advanced communication skills, leadership skills, excellent written and verbal skills.

Project management skills, triaging skills, ability to work under pressure, demonstrate the Trust's values.

Experience

Experience with a range of acute settings, Band 6 experience for a minimum of 2 years, minimum of five years experience as a Band 5, experience caring for cancer patients.

5 years clinical experience, experience in ED, chemotherapy knowledge.
