£48,021. Recruitment and Retention Allowance £1,123 per annum.

This role is available full-time for 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Flexible or compressed working patterns are available.

Bring your SMT Automated Assembly skills to work with unique tech on engineering projects that you won't find anywhere else.

Purpose:

Protecting the UK's security. Working in our advanced manufacturing facility, you'll collaborate with a team of manufacturing engineers working on projects critical to protecting security.

You’ll put your skills to use in areas such as:

Programming machinery, profiling ovens, and setup on a variety of SMT assembly equipment.

Inspecting build quality using X-ray and AOI equipment.

Routine machine maintenance.

DFM advice to design engineers.

Mentoring junior staff.

You’ll have hands-on involvement in producing and building products using some of the smallest components available in both NPI and production environments, using the latest technology, often within our specialist clean room facility.

More about you:

To apply for this role, you’ll already have:

Experience in setting up, programming, and profiling a variety of automated assembly equipment (e.g., Jetstencil printers, Solder paste inspection, pick and place systems, Reflow ovens, and AOI inspection systems).

Experience in equipment maintenance scheduling and delivery.

An understanding of Gerber and CAD files in the SMT process.

To strengthen your application, it would be beneficial if you also have:

Experience in mentoring and/or training.

IPC 610 and/or IPC7711/7721 rework qualification.

Experience in process qualification (e.g., SMT/Selective soldering).

Putting your skills to use:

Using your diverse range of skills within the automated PCB assembly (SMT) team, you’ll:

Program a variety of equipment, including JetStencil printers, Solder paste inspection systems, Pick and place systems, AOI, and X-Ray machines.

Assist in the setting up and operation of all processes.

Carry out hand-fit and rework tasks (including use of an IR rework station).

Perform quality assurance and final inspection tasks.

Liaise with design engineers to provide the latest advice (DFM) on build standards, techniques, and components.

Mentor and coach team members to support their development.

Utilise your knowledge of processes to provide support of incoming and replacement capabilities.

Utilise your machine knowledge to assist in the scheduling and support of routine machine maintenance across the range of equipment.
