Job Description Department Manager - Backshift (2pm to 10pm) CONTRACT: ASDA LARNE Work Pattern: To work any 5 shifts out of 7 per week The role of Department Manager is pivotal to the efficient running of the distribution centre and will be focused on delivering consistent performance against agreed operational KPIs. Reporting to the Warehouse Shift Manager, you will have full accountability for the day to day management of a team of Warehouse Operatives and for delivering a culture that positively supports employee engagement. As a highly motivated individual you should be showing excellent productivity and attendance combined with flexibility within your current role. Duties and Responsibilities: To have full accountability for a team of Warehouse Operatives, including recruitment, training, performance management, disciplinary and grievance, Health & Safety investigations, recognition & reward for their teams. Manage all operational Departmental activities to achieve Customer Key Performance Indicators' (KPI's). Increase and maintain productivity and profitability within area of responsibility. Responsible for management of all Warehousing Processes and activities within Department. Build a high-performance culture by setting targets, measuring performance, providing regular feedback, recognising achievements or coaching individuals as required in order to develop an engaged workforce. Person Specification Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes 1 year's relevant experience in a warehouse environment preferably within the logistics or manufacturing sector. Knowledge and understanding of shift KPI's and operational processes. Excellent team building, leadership, flexibility and motivational skills. Ability to delegate tasks to ensure high performance and optimal targets are met. Employee engagement knowledge and/or experience in a diverse working environment. Knowledge of the importance of interaction between other key functional teams, i.e., Stock, Transport, HR and Finance. Flexibility and reliability (excellent attendance record). This role may require manual handling duties (e.g., regular lifting and moving) alongside manual dexterity (e.g., use of equipment and movement) during peak operational periods. Desirable Experience, Skills and Attributes 3 year's relevant experience in a warehouse environment within the logistics or manufacturing sector. Management experience.
