We are looking to recruit a motivated, flexible and reliable Consultant Rehabilitation Psychiatrist to join our team.
Responsibilities:
Leading weekly ward rounds
Running CPAs
Assessing new referrals
Attending managers' hearings and tribunals
Providing supervision to the Specialty Doctor
Medical leadership to the Hospital
On-call duties around 1:6
The successful candidate will be the primary responsible clinician caring for a 12 bed male Recovery & Rehab ward, with some cross covering with other consultants looking after an 18 bed acute mixed ward. They will lead a Multi Disciplinary Team and work in close liaison with the referring agencies. The role includes teaching and supervision of medical and clinical staff. The Consultant will be supported by a Specialty Doctor and receive supervision from the Medical Director who is based at the same Priory Hospital. Rehab and Recovery provision within Priory Healthcare is supported by a Clinical Network, which provides support and guidance to the team and facilitates meetings; therefore, the successful candidate will be expected to attend some meetings off site.
Minimum Requirements: Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or be within three months of registration and also hold the approved clinician status.
Priory Healthcare provides a programme of educational activities for Doctors; PDP groups are supported and other CPD activities are actively encouraged. All medical staff are members of the Hospital Medical Advisory Committee. Newbury has 30 beds made up of male Recovery and Rehabilitation and mixed Acute wards. Set on the southern outskirts of Newbury, we have a full and diverse MDT including Psychology, Creative Therapists, Consultant Psychiatrists, and excellent physical health care provided by a Lead Nurse and an incredible GP. There are excellent public transport links to Reading, Basingstoke, and London which is just a 50 minute train journey. The site is warm and welcoming with a homely atmosphere.
