Job role description for Room Leader:

Lead and manage the room team, ensuring all staff members are supported, motivated, and working collaboratively to deliver high-quality care and education.

Oversee the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, tailored to meet the individual needs of children.

Ensure the room environment is safe, clean, and fully compliant with health and safety regulations, conducting regular risk assessments and maintaining staff-to-child ratios.

Establish strong partnerships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on their child’s development and addressing any concerns in a professional manner.

Mentor and support team members, providing guidance on best practices and identifying opportunities for their continuous professional development.

Represent the nursery professionally and attend staff meetings, training, and community events.

As a Room Leader you will have:

A level 3 or above childcare qualification

Experience leading or supervising a small team of nursery staff

Strong planning and organizational abilities

A passion for children’s education and care, and a commitment to inclusivity

Good oral and written communication skills

Enthusiasm to reflect on and constantly improve practice and to lead by example

An ability to safeguard and protect children

A flexible and can-do attitude - no two days are ever the same!
