The successful candidate will be working in a team environment directly assisting the Project Manager and Site Manager on upcoming residential projects across Sydney.

For this exciting opportunity, you will be a final year student in Construction or Engineering, carry a valid driver’s license, and be passionate about learning and construction.

Responsibilities:
As the Construction Cadet, you will provide end-to-end contract administration. Some tasks will include:
Site Management & Admin:
Attend site meetings and assist with minute taking and follow-ups
Assist in the preparation of weekly/monthly reports in a timely manner as measured by accuracy and compliance to reporting standards templates
Ensuring site supervisory staff receive all necessary details to carry out their tasks
Assisting in the delivery or installation of non-conforming products until the deficiency or unsatisfactory conditions have been rectified
Ensuring that appropriate IMS records are being maintained, stored, and indexed in an efficient filing system
Prepare site registers and distribute to the team
Site Safety Coordination:
Assist Project Managers in procuring material and equipment for the project ensuring timely delivery
Assist the team with relevant maintenance of registers of inductions and site visitors
Prepare signage in conjunction with the Site Manager
Check site safety infrastructure to ensure compliance with Cadence Safety Policy
Participate in regular “walk-throughs” of the site to ensure HSEQ standards are being upheld
Quality Control:
Fieldwork together with the Site Manager and PM to help facilitate pictures and ITP completion for critical hold point areas for various trades
Maintain and distribute defect registers and non-conformance reports
Document and issue for review to Project Managers all technical procedures and ITPs to ensure all quality, safety, environmental, and technical obligations are achieved and maintained
Design Coordination:
RFI assistance, liaising with clients, consultants, or third parties to resolve specification queries and anomalies
Document control, cost, and project reporting via Teams & Procore
Issue purchase orders, check off deliveries vs delivery dockets
Maintain supply registers for bricks, concrete & reinforcement steel, and the like
Assist CA in preparation of subcontractor packages, scopes, lettings, and procurement schedules
Check and process all suppliers and subcontractor claims/invoices prior to payment, ensuring compliance with the NSW Security of Payments Act guidelines
Register invoices on Jobpac Accounting Software (training will be provided)
Ensure that all contract documents are signed and returned to CADENCE or the related construction prior to making any payment
Defect and Handover Coordination:
Assist the PM and Site Manager to record defects and send notices to related parties to assist in the coordination of successfully closing our defects prior to practical completion
Requirements:
Self-motivated and intuitively natured
Ability to learn and improve existing computer skills (become proficient in all programs in the Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, Bluebeam)
Committed to doing what it takes to achieve success within this role
Highly organized with the capability to complete all tasks mentioned above and meet deadlines
Liaising with Site/Project Managers and Sub-Contractors to ensure maintenance of project schedules
Studying towards a Construction Management or Building Engineering Degree (3rd year as a minimum)
Outcome-focused, detail-oriented, and ability to multitask
A genuine passion for the building and construction industry
Highly organized with attention to detail
All other duties encapsulated within the role
