Relay is a warehouse-to-doorstep delivery network purpose-built to scale to the demands of e-commerce. We help the most important retailers in the UK (and one day, the world) to deliver faster, more affordably, and more sustainably than existing solutions. For every parcel we deliver, we drive 40% fewer miles than and emit roughly half of the greenhouse gases of existing solutions.
The success of our network depends on our ability to lead couriers through every step of the delivery process using Copilot, Relay’s end-to-end guidance system for couriers. We’re looking for a product designer who can bring to life the future of Copilot and make it as easy as possible for our couriers to remain happy while earning on our platform.
As a Product Designer in this role at Relay, you can expect to:
Work fluidly within a fast-moving team to design the tools needed by couriers to maximise their earnings when working on Relay’s platform. Partner with Product Manager and business leaders to shape the technology roadmap for our courier-facing applications. Have the opportunity to shape our design practices, including instituting a design system and shaping our design language. Collaborate closely with engineers to get your designs into production. Frequently take a break from Figma to get on the road with couriers and understand every facet of their experience with Relay. Requirements

You deeply empathise with the people you’re designing for, and are more interested in solving the challenges they face than producing visually flawless designs that look good in your portfolio. You’re comfortable with a fast-paced and frequently-changing environment, where design often needs to evolve ad-hoc. You aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and take on work that falls outside of traditional product design. You value and practice clear communication, active listening, and intentional collaboration. We are looking for candidates who have worked as a designer on high-performing software teams for at least three years. Experience as a startup founder or in early stage teams is a strong plus, but not required. This is a contract role at 20 hours per week.
