Job Description

As a seasoned UX Researcher, you know there’s no such thing as a typical user experience. You are passionate about understanding user needs and are driven to improve the user experience across all touchpoints. You thrive on bringing critical customer insight into every stage of the product development lifecycle and have a thirst for discovery and learning.

This is a hybrid role – three days per week in either our Newcastle or Manchester office.

You will join a diverse multidisciplinary team where your customer insights will shape our roadmap for the future and continually improve our products and services. Based on your experience as a researcher, you will work confidently to support and advise the wider team around research activities and methods. You will work collaboratively to challenge assumptions and decisions where appropriate, to ensure user needs are not only met but surpassed with the products we deliver.

Sage is all about chasing that eureka moment – whether it’s solving a problem, finding the way forward, or even in developing your own understanding through training. You’ll be feeling that buzz on a daily basis and, more importantly, helping our hundreds of thousands of users achieve their goals. Key Responsibilities

What you'll do:

Build relationships with users, recruit participants, plan and schedule research sessions. Conduct research using a range of techniques, covering behavioural, attitudinal and evaluative research methods including: usability testing, field research/shadowing, surveys, diary studies, interviews, and user workshops. Adapt a broad range of research techniques – using both formal methodologies and informal ‘guerrilla’ and LEAN UX opportunities to meet the project needs and constraints. Analyse and surface insight from a range of sources e.g research insights, analytics, databases and A/B testing to surface insights to the team. With the support of your peers you will communicate research insights and user needs – influencing peers, seniors, and stakeholders. Monitor metrics to evaluate the user experience and maturity of our user-centred practice.

Required skills and experience: Experience of adapting research to an agile methodology. Practical experience of attitudinal, behavioural and evaluative research methods. Diverse toolbox of quantitative and qualitative research methods. The ability to simplify complexity and communicate clearly to a range of audiences. Highly confident working independently, or collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. A keen relationship builder, face-to-face and also digitally.
