Charlie Bigham's Quarry Kitchen, Ducote Quarry, Wells BA5 3FH Job Introduction We're looking for a skilled and proactive Multi-skilled Engineer to join our team and play a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of our Kitchen production site. Your mission will be to ensure maximum machinery availability through world-class preventative and reactive maintenance practices while contributing to site projects and maintaining the site infrastructure. As part of the team, you'll: Provide expert engineering support to production, ensuring uninterrupted operations. Carry out planned maintenance to the highest standards, following the maintenance schedule. Lead or support site projects and enabling works, delivering on time, on budget, and with precision. Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment for everyone on site. Ensure adherence to engineering procedures, legislation, and technical guidelines. Manage contractors when required and provide engineering cover in times of absence. 4 on / 4 off - 6pm to 6am ROLE RESPONSIBILITY PRODUCTION SUPPORT Maintain production equipment in acceptable working order. Minimise time reaction to machinery breakdown. Reduce machinery downtime. Improve machinery efficiency. Train operators on new machinery if required. Demonstrate a proactive attitude toward maintenance. Proactively promote correct use of equipment. HEALTH AND SAFETY Maintain a safe working environment for all people on site in compliance with company and legislative requirements. Follow all engineering health and safety procedures. Be involved in the health and safety team and carry out health and safety functions as required. PEOPLE Effective communication through formal and informal dealings with operational staff. Participate in meetings/trials where engineering input is required. QUALITY/TECHNICAL STANDARDS Maintain machinery in working order in compliance with quality and technical requirements. Follow technical procedures related to general maintenance on site. Work closely with the hygiene team to ensure proper cleaning procedures are followed. Proactively improve engineering functions to reduce food safety risk. NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT Assist and support the NFD team with trials and equipment solutions where necessary. The Ideal Candidate Experience Previous experience of working in an FMCG environment. Experience of working in a customer-focused environment. Qualifications Mechanical and electrical certificate (NVQ3 or equivalent). Time-served apprenticeship. Food production engineering experience desired.
