The Role We are seeking a talented Senior Backend Engineer to join our innovative AI team and help drive the future of digital health through the application of cutting-edge AI/ML solutions. You will work closely with various teams across Product, Clinical, and Engineering, to develop and deploy machine learning models that enhance the quality and effectiveness of our health products and services. You’ll be: Instrumental in designing our AI architecture and building a health platform that helps our patients take better care of themselves. Setting up, fine-tuning, deploying, and scaling machine learning models that drive products and services. Monitoring model performance in real-world applications and iteratively improving based on feedback and new data. Working in the Medical Platform team, designing, implementing, maintaining, scaling and deploying a core part of our business. Hands-on with coding, best practices, appropriate tools and technologies. Mentoring, helping and guiding less experienced colleagues to grow as engineers. Working with people from various business functions in clarifying requirements and suggesting different and relevant technical approaches. We’re looking for someone who: Is a strong backend engineer with experience in designing and developing large-scale applications and designing end-to-end infrastructure. Demonstrates expert-level understanding of deploying and managing Large Language Models (LLMs), including setting up, fine-tuning, and scaling these models to support real-world applications. Is highly knowledgeable in technologies such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). Has substantial experience building, optimising, and maintaining APIs specifically designed for AI functionalities, including a scalable AI model inference with robust error handling and security measures. Has excellent Python skills and strong experience with frameworks such as Django or Flask. Has strong commercial experience in relational and non-relational databases. Has excellent problem-solving and debugging skills. Cares deeply about system health and maintainability, with a passion for good engineering habits and best practices. Takes initiatives, is able to work independently, and owns all aspects of their work. Has solid communication skills and is able to work in cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with remote team members.
