Randstad is working in conjunction with a large regional house builder who specializes in building quality homes. They have three offices throughout the Yorkshire region and are continually expanding their team to meet the demand. With numerous new developments coming up in their region, they are seeking an experienced House Building Quantity Surveyor to join their team.

Responsibilities

Actively manage build and infrastructure costs, cash flows, cost movements and variations, and budgeted financial information at site and plot level.

Manage the working partnership with Housing Associations, third-party providers, and sub-contractors to ensure that all contractual terms are met and ensure that all orders are placed, managed, and settled as per Group policies and processes.

Work closely with the Assistant QS; assisting with their development; ensuring the correct quant and level of works are being delegated.

Procure all subcontract trades involving other internal departments.

Provide detailed cost/budget analysis on a development-by-development and cost item basis relative to the build programme.

Skills & Requirements

A relevant qualification or good experience in Quantity Surveying.

Proficient user of COINS and MS Excel packages.

A good understanding of the financial implications of the methods and sequences of build.

Good Finance/Commercial awareness & Technical knowledge.

Good awareness of codes of practice that impact on commercial matters e.g., Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, HSE, etc.

Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Good stakeholder management, with resilience and maturity to balance multiple priorities within a fast-changing and demanding environment.

Excellent communication and engagement skills with site and regional colleagues.

Ability and flexibility to travel to sites are essential.
