Responsibilities: Mechanical design of precision electromechanical mechanisms from concept through to production, ensuring: Designs are innovative, cost-effective, fit for purpose, and reliable. Appropriate use of CAD design tools (Solidworks). Appropriate use of design tools, i.e., FEA, CFD, DFMA, etc. Generation of quantifiable specifications based on internal or external customer requirements. Effective process selection, i.e., high-pressure die casting, investment casting, injection moulding, precision machining, etc. Meeting operational and legal product requirements. Assisting in the build and testing of new products. Applying analysis to designs to ensure that they meet specifications. Supervising and conducting test work both in-house and at external test houses. Working as part of a cross-functional team to deliver new and innovative products into manufacture. Leading the analysis and solution of product issues. Leading design reviews internally and with clients. Qualifications: Degree qualified in a mechanical engineering discipline; Masters level preferred. Demonstrable mechanical design experience in the development of products for manufacture in a commercial market. Excellent communication skills and fluency in English – both spoken and written. Experience in regular interaction with customers and partners. 3+ years proven experience in Mechanical or Product Design environment. Able to use Solidworks for mechanical design and analysis to a high level. Mechatronics experience ideally with remote camera systems or sensor positioning equipment. Experience in design and development of mechanical solutions aimed at production quantities of approximately 10,000 units per annum. Experience in working with a range of manufacturing techniques including machining, die-casting, investment casting, sheet metal, and injection moulding. Experience operating in ISO 9001 environments and to industry-specific standards. Experience in hardware design to defence standards.
