Invinity Energy Systems is hiring a Field Service Technician in Bathgate, UK, to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of their vanadium flow battery systems. The role involves hands-on work with energy storage components, technical diagnostics, and customer engagement. The technician will ensure safety compliance, manage field service tools, and utilize remote monitoring for system performance. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the transition to renewable energy and engage with multiple projects. Energy storage is the most exciting area in energy today. Massive amounts of energy storage are required if renewable energy is to take its rightful place on the electric grid. Invinity provides an alternative to the most common type of battery, lithium-ion. Manufactured as a standardized product in a factory, Invinity's vanadium flow batteries don't degrade, won't catch fire, and can be operated continuously from full charge to full discharge for 25 years. Invinity has 75,000 kilowatt-hours of its modular battery systems in 82 projects across 15 countries - more than any other company in the space. A compelling product and recent funding put Invinity in a position to grow dramatically as it addresses the global imperative for stationary energy storage. Join us as we help transform renewable energy into a stable and dependable contributor to the transition to net zero. We are seeking a dedicated Field Service Technician with electrical and mechanical expertise to service and maintain the hardware, software, and communications technologies in our energy storage equipment. You will work across multiple concurrent projects, reporting to the Field Services Manager in our Customer Operations team, and collaborate closely with Support Engineers, Product Development, Solutions teams, and our Customers. Responsibilities

Field Support:

Support the safe installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Invinity's products in the field, working hands-on with energy storage system components such as electrochemical cells, inverters, and control systems. Prioritize a "zero-harm" approach to all field activities, adhering to rigorous safety protocols and documented procedures. Technical Troubleshooting:

Diagnose, repair, and replace key electrochemical, electrical, and control system components. Provide remote technical support as needed, using diagnostic tools to anticipate and prevent future issues. Customer Engagement:

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, offering clear and professional communication for all project updates and troubleshooting activities. Provide customer training on system operation, maintenance, and safety protocols. Documentation & Reporting:

Keep detailed and accurate records, contributing insights that drive improvement. Inventory & Tool Management:

Maintain field service tools, spare parts, and equipment, ensuring readiness and reliability for on-site tasks. Take responsibility for accurate inventory management on field assignments. System Monitoring:

Use Invinity's remote monitoring platform to track system performance and address any identified issues promptly. Health, Safety & Equipment Compliance:

Adhere to all safety standards, and participate in regular training. Must be capable of identifying and mitigating hazards in field environments. Requirements

Experience:

Minimum 3 years of experience in a Field Service environment with a focus on electrical, electronics, power electronics, or network communications. Experience in renewable energy, inverters/rectifiers, and energy storage systems is highly preferred. Technical Skills:

Familiarity with communication networks, power electronics, cooling systems, MV equipment, and electrical switchgear is advantageous. Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools like multimeters, thermal imaging, and torque wrenches, and proficiency with Microsoft 365, Jira, and VPNs. Customer Service Skills:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support customer interactions and remote technical assistance. Self-Management:

Self-motivated with strong time management and prioritization skills, able to work independently and meet tight deadlines. Physical Demands:

Ability to perform various physical tasks, including standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds (heavier lifting may occasionally be required). Comfortable working outdoors in diverse environments. Safety and Compliance:

Health and safety training is required, with certification or knowledge of additional safety standards preferred (e.g., OSHA, forklift operation). Travel Flexibility:

Willing and able to travel frequently to Invinity offices and customer sites in the U.K. and internationally. Travel up to 50-60% may be required, with occasional extended trips up to four weeks. Education / Eligibility:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Legally eligible to work in the UK, with a valid passport and a clean driving license. We welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds and experiences who are excited about our mission in renewable energy. If you meet most of these qualifications, we encourage you to apply. At Invinity, we support our team members with professional development, certifications, and pathways to grow internally. You'll work in a collaborative environment where learning is part of every project.
