Overview and Responsibilities Introduction We require a Manufacturing Engineer to join our busy team based in Abercynon, South Wales. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing the systems and processes required for the introduction of new products or improving existing product systems and processes. They must develop and maintain robust, cost-efficient manufacturing processes and product structures consistent with lean manufacturing practices. Must be mindful of process and test capabilities and recognize organisational core competencies. Ensures root cause and failure analysis is performed as required. Key Responsibilities Working as part of a project team liaising with design, production, supply chain, and quality departments to deliver projects on time and to a high-quality standard. Identifying improvements in manufacturing processes and managing projects to implement process improvements. Lead the team in the achievement of the operational KPIs and budgeted requirements. Support the safe and effective use of people and equipment to achieve the daily/weekly/monthly production plan. Work in conjunction with the Planning department to the TOC process to meet the requirements of the capacity plan in the optimal way. Competency Ability to identify and implement effective training requirements. A role model of the TT Way behaviours for your team and colleagues. Display always the highest level of professional integrity and honesty. Ability to be able to communicate competently and effectively at all levels supported by strong listening skills. A flexible approach to team working with the ability to both lead and work as part of the wider operational team. Demonstrates a participative management style to encourage team engagement. Qualifications, Skills and Attributes Core Requirements HNC/ HND or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline. Fundamental knowledge of DFMEA / PFMEA to influence Product definition / final form manufacture. Experience of manipulating and viewing 3D CAD data to extract information. Ability to interpret 2D drawings. Excellent knowledge of design for assembly/manufacture methodology. A clear understanding of how a manufacturing process should be configured to ensure stable and effective outputs. Demonstrated ability to implement lean improvements in a structured way to continually improve the manufacturing performance. Ability to identify and implement new technologies to add value to the existing processes. Manage and control costs in line with budgets. Desirable Skills and Experience Previous experience of military and traction projects. Experience in automation/robotics. Experience using CAD/CAM package. Six Sigma Qualification. Previous experience in connector or harness manufacturing. Knowledge of our customers and their industry.
