Field Service Engineers Connected Search Group has partnered with a client based in the North West to help them source two field service engineers to join the business. The client is ideally looking for one mechanically biased and one electrically biased engineer. The business has an impressive order book, working with some of the world's most recognisable organisations, and has secured long-term contracts across their client base. With the business's success and projected growth, there will likely be progression opportunities for the right candidates. Role Purpose and General Overview The primary purpose of this role is to provide efficient maintenance, breakdown services, and servicing of Overhead Electric Travelling Cranes (OHETC). The Service Department manages preventative maintenance contracts (PPM), handles breakdowns on a 24/7 basis, conducts service follow-up work (SFU), supplies spare parts, and oversees crane modernisation and all after-sales activities associated with our client. Depending on the job and location, lodging away may be required. Overtime and weekend work may also be necessary. Comprehensive training will be provided, including LEEA Accreditations and any other relevant certifications. Additionally, a company van will be provided for work-related travel. Key Responsibilities Refurbishment and modernisation of overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment. Installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of overhead cranes and gantries. Installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning of jib cranes. Conducting Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and identifying potential mechanical and electrical issues using our reporting system. Performing Service Follow-Up (SFU) and/or project modernisation work related to crane conversion or refurbishment. Attending emergency breakdowns, identifying faults, and carrying out effective repairs, which will generally be electrical problems, possibly PLC related. Documenting all site visits. Technical Competencies & Experience Previous specialist experience with OHETCs is preferred, ideally with knowledge of cranes supplied by major global manufacturers. Must be a competent industrial electrician and/or mechanically biased and apprentice-trained (NVQ level 3 or above). Must be able to work independently, as part of the Service Department, or lead a team of engineers depending on the nature of the job, duration, and location. Self-motivated, responsible, and prepared to travel throughout the UK, with the expectation of working some unsociable hours. Willingness to undergo security clearance if required. If you feel that your experience fits the above and that you would like to hear more, please submit an application.
