We are looking for a Power System Engineer to join our dynamic team and work on cutting-edge projects in the GB and international power industry.

The National HVDC Centre is owned and operated by SSEN Transmission but works with all the GB transmission companies. Opened in April 2017, the Centre is the national hub for HVDC modelling and simulation, knowledge exchange, and research. We use state-of-the-art high-performance computing facilities to model and resolve complex issues before they impact on the delivery or operation of HVDC projects. Our globally recognised work helps to ensure the integrity and security of GB energy supplies as we transition to a net zero network.

Lead the delivery of projects for our stakeholders. Identify key insights that hold value and importance, and effectively communicate your findings through publications, technical reports, and engaging presentations. Collaborative Innovation:

Work closely with colleagues within the Centre and our valued partners to develop knowledge and capabilities in HVDC and related simulation tools. Business Development:

Enhance our reputation for excellence and our business functions as we grow to support GB industry's ambitious HVDC strategy. Shape the Industry:

Engage with industry groups and innovation projects to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of HVDC technology.

What We're Looking For: Power System Analysis:

Experience in power system analysis and its applications, especially EMT studies or real-time simulation. Network Knowledge:

Strong technical knowledge of the electricity transmission network, ideally with a strong focus on HVDC or FACTS. Effective Communication Skills:

Ability to write clear, well-structured technical reports and convey complex technical subjects to various stakeholders. Collaborative Drive:

Motivation to work collaboratively with others, delivering outstanding results.

If you're eager to be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking organisation committed to securing a sustainable energy future, then consider The National HVDC Centre. Apply now and join us in our journey towards a net-zero network and become a key player in the transformation of the energy landscape.

About our Business

At SSEN Transmission, we take immense pride in owning and operating the high-voltage electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland. We transport energy from where it is generated to wherever it is needed, ensuring a safe and reliable electricity supply for the communities we serve.
