Summary of Role The Apprentice Developer is an entry-level position designed for individuals with a foundational understanding of programming who are seeking to gain practical experience in software development. This role involves working under the guidance of experienced developers to contribute to the development, testing, and maintenance of software applications. Additionally, you will be required to attend and pass all assessments related to the apprenticeship. This role requires a passion for problem-solving and a willingness to learn new concepts and best practices through a combination of training, hands-on experience, and self-learning. The Apprentice Developer position is a stepping stone to a fulfilling career in software development. With dedication and demonstrated skill development, there are opportunities for promotion to roles such as Developer or Senior Developer or other roles in the software engineering. The Role *** Please note that we do not accept multiple applications and you should only select and apply to one programme per year*** Level 4 Software Developer Apprenticeship Closing Date: 17 January 2025 Key Responsibilities: Assist in the coding and debugging of software applications under the supervision of development mentor. Participate in software development projects, contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle. Breaking down work into logical steps and reporting progress verbally and through updates to JIRA tickets. Engage in learning opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in software development practices and programming languages. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs. Support the documentation of software development processes and code changes. Perform tests and code reviews to ensure functionality and quality of applications. Adhere to the TAS coding standards, the TAS operational framework and WTW Excellence guidelines. Demonstrate learning adaptability, understanding of the implications of technical issues on business requirements and/or operations. Qualifications

The Requirements Knowledge and Experience: Education background to A-levels or a Level 3 NVQ, preferably in IT related subjects, Mathematics, or science-related subject. GCSE Grades A – C in Mathematics and English Language. Prior experience in a programming or development role is beneficial. Strong desire to learn and grow in the field of software development. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Working Conditions: Hybrid Home/Office environment with opportunities for hands-on learning and mentorship. Regular working hours with occasional overtime to meet project deadlines.
