We run a weekly music session for adults with Learning Disabilities, led by one of our Learners and another volunteer. We are looking to further develop the music sessions and are seeking someone who has a creative mind and can help design and run sessions with our team that people of all abilities can join in with. You could also be someone who is confident at playing a certain instrument and would enjoy teaching the group the basics of the instrument. All ideas are welcome, as long as they are musical. Individuals would spend some time with staff to plan 4-5 afternoon sessions a month and lead on a few of these sessions each week. The sessions would be attended by 6-9 adults with Learning Disabilities and supported by a2a staff. We would like to work towards producing music that can be performed and recorded to showcase the abilities of the Learners we support. What volunteers need

We support individuals in various ways, from everyday living skills to attending social events such as concerts. Our mission statement is “to enable personal achievement and progression by developing essential skills and self-confidence through learning, living, and working.” We encourage our learners and build on their opportunities in everyday life through a range of activities, challenges, and personal goals. Our learners are given the choice on how to run their day and what activities they might want to participate in. We are aware of the individual needs of our learners through their personalized care plans and support each person appropriately to make informed choices. Respect is our core value, not only towards our learners but everyone associated with able2achieve, including parents, guardians, professionals, and staff. Respect is embedded and encouraged throughout the organization.
