About the role: JCB Transmissions are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Manufacturing Engineer to become a valued member of the team. The role includes developing, improving, and optimising manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. This role involves analysing production workflows, implementing process improvements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless manufacturing operations. A large portion of this role is dedicated to project managing NPI (New Product Introduction) and large capital funded projects. To achieve the longer-term departmental goals, this role requires the visionary and influential skills to embed the Manufacturing strategy for the Gearbox and Axle Facility. What does this role involve day to day? Project management of NPI & capital projects: responsible from project kick-off to production implementation & hand-over to operations Responsibilities including vendor/supplier management, budget management, timeline & scheduling management, project documentation management Process Improvement: Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste. Contributing to internal cost saving initiatives Production Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for production issues to minimise downtime and ensure product quality. This including assisting with PCM & ANDON issues Automation & Technology: Evaluate and integrate new manufacturing technologies and automation systems Quality Control: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish and maintain product standards and compliance with industry regulations Cost Analysis: Analyse production costs and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality Equipment Management: Oversee the selection, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment Lean Manufacturing: Apply lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to streamline operations This will be suited to you if: You can work independently and as part of a team Have effective communication skills at all levels Self-motivated Have excellent problem-solving skills with specific focus towards establishing root cause Ability to work from their own initiative, in addition to being part of a growing team Able to multi-task, prioritise and manage time effectively Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget Have a sense of urgency and positive attitude in order to deliver true customer delight, providing solutions in a timely and efficient manner Engineering degree level qualification or equivalent work experience of working within a Manufacturing Engineering function in large component machining, assembly and test environments would be highly advantageous Sound PC literacy Acute attention to detail to facilitate best practice in lean manufacturing and no faults forward philosophies.
