We are looking for an Airworthiness Engineer to work within our Helicopter Division based in Yeovil.

Reporting to the Chief Initial Airworthiness Engineer within the engineering function of Leonardo Helicopters UK, you will be collaborating with a range of teams from the design office, project engineering, flight test pilots, quality and the production areas to ensure that all aspects of the initial airworthiness process are compiled and completed in an effective and timely manner. Looking to the future, you will also have the exciting prospect of working with our remotely piloted vehicles.

You will work on new, and changes to, helicopters type certification, verifying that they meet the design and safety requirements of the MAA, CAA and other validating authorities.

You will be responsible for classifying, and certifying the relevant helicopter design changes deemed necessary to develop and improve helicopter configuration and performances.

Key Responsibility Areas as an Airworthiness Engineer

Collect and integrate the inputs from our Project Engineering department and other technical areas for the preparation of new type certification and changes.

Cooperate in proposing the type certification basis including where required liaising with the Military Aviation Authority (MAA) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and other regulatory authorities.

Check that all compliance documents are prepared in order to demonstrate compliance with all certification specifications and environmental protection requirements.

Coordinate all tasks and the relevant scheduling related to type certification changes, repairs and validation process.

Collaborate for the approval process of repairs classified minor/a or major.

Liaise with the appointed Aviation Authority personnel and regularly report to the Agency about investigation progress and announcement of scheduled tests in due time.

Security Clearance

You must be eligible for full security clearance.

Skills, Qualifications and Knowledge required:

Experience of working within a design office, military and/or civil.

Previous experience in the Type Certification process from a military and/or civil perspective.

A degree in a relevant Engineering or Scientific subject or experience in lieu of qualifications.

Ability to follow well defined engineering processes.

Ability to work in cross-functional team environments.

Ability to make technical decisions.

Time management and organisational skills.

Attention to detail.

Experience in MS Office.
