Thermo Fluids Engineer - Submarines Location:

Derby Type:

Full Time We are currently looking for a Thermofluids Engineer to join our Submarines Team in Derby. You will be working within a whole plant or individual system team, creating system definitions and component specifications in the context of nuclear systems design, definition, assessment, integration and verification activities at an integrated power system or fluid system level as applicable, in support of capability acquisition, new product introduction and in-service product support. Why Rolls-Royce?

Work with us and we'll welcome you into an inclusive culture, one that invests in your continuous learning and development, and gives you access to a wide breadth and depth of experience. Throughout our proud history, we've discovered pioneers come in many forms, not least through the individual traits displayed by our people. Join us and you can bring yourself to work every day - in an environment of collaboration, continuous learning and respect. What we offer:

We offer excellent development, a competitive salary and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts. Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location. It's a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we're all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week. What you will be doing:

You will resolve problems through evaluative judgements and through application and understanding of standard methods. Analyse factual information from multiple sources, interpret results and identify effective solutions by applying their own technical knowledge, expertise and engineering judgement. Be responsible for defined technical packages of work providing leadership and delivery against customer programme milestones with agreed costs, timescales and quality requirements. Understand the company business objectives and ensure that the work they do supports this. Actively encourage and support the identification and implementation of continuous improvement both within and outside their immediate sphere and prompt action across the wider team, including the application of digital solutions. Ensure that all work is of a high standard, to the appropriate level of detail consistent with maintaining acceptable risk, and that correct processes and procedures have been used. Undertake specific programmes of work to acquire and advance Fluid Systems technologies, methods and processes, in order to achieve and maintain a world-class competitive capability. Represent the department internally and externally at meetings, conferences and seminars. Undertake requirements management and derivation including implementation of Systems Engineering approaches. Who we're looking for:

PhD, Masters or Bachelors degree in an Engineering or relevant Science or Mathematics degree subject with suitable experience. An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems. Proactive, persistent and customer focused with a high level of self-motivation and initiative, and able to stand-alone. Effective interpersonal, communication and coaching skills essential for liaising with peers and supervision. Experience in a Fluid Systems related discipline is desirable but not essential. Experience working in the Nuclear industry is desirable but not essential. Normally holding membership of a relevant professional body or working towards Chartered status. We're an equal opportunities employer. We're committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives. And the more perspectives we have, the more successful we'll be. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential. To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don't currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL. Job Category
