Mechanical Design Engineers

to work at our customer's site in

Derby

on a contract basis. You will be responsible for the creation of component/assembly designs and associated through-life justification that meet their requirements and product attributes of life, cost, availability, and safety margins. Job title: Mechanical Design Engineers Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: To understand Product system / sub-system requirements and derive Component requirements at task level. To produce robust design solutions which are insensitive to variation to address specified requirements. To collaborate and communicate design solution information with task stakeholders. To search for, capture, store, and re-use knowledge relating to design activity. To understand and apply the commodity standards and to create new standards where none exist. To liaise with manufacturing and service engineering to actively integrate the experience and knowledge from these areas. To check own and others design solutions and technical for completeness and correctness. To manage work in accordance with project cost, timescale, and quality targets. To resolve problems through evaluative judgements. Analyses factual information from multiple sources, interprets results and identifies effective solutions by applying their own technical knowledge, expertise and engineering judgement. Is responsible for planning, project managing and delivering technical packages/investigations in line with programme milestones within agreed cost, timescale and quality requirements, including managing inputs from specialist areas and integrating activities to achieve the defined requirements. Bachelor’s degree, Master’s or PhD in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience. Technical experience relevant to the engineering discipline. An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems. Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and justification. Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards. Experience as design engineer operating across the product life cycle, undertaking design safety justification activities supporting manufacturing, integration, maintenance/refit activities and dealing with operational issues. Experience of Research and development, analytical and test verification activities. Experience in the development of methods, standards and processes. Security clearance This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
