The Role: Responsible for overseeing and guiding the development team to deliver high-quality software solutions aligned with the company’s goals. Combination of technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring that coding standards, architecture, and technical strategies are effectively implemented. Fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment, setting and monitoring performance goals, and aligning technical capabilities with business objectives. This role is pivotal in bridging strategic goals with technical execution, enabling the team to consistently deliver innovative and reliable software solutions. Key Responsibilities Include: Take ownership of end-to-end on-time feature level deliveries against pre-agreed deadlines and estimates, from initial design and development through deployment and ongoing support. Manage the risks to delivery timelines and technical feasibility, ensuring smooth project execution. Provide technical insights to prioritize and balance feature requests, bug fixes, and technical debt within delivery schedules. Ensure that the correct developer tooling, such as continuous delivery pipelines and testing frameworks, are in place to support rapid, reliable deployment cycles. Be a high performing member of the management of the Company. Shape how the performance of the team can contribute to ensure the delivery of the business’ goals and objectives. Build, develop, lead and manage the team and its functions/offerings to ensure we maintain resilience in achieving deliveries which are consistently delivered within defined budgets, to the correct quality and in a timely manner. Lead and drive the performance of the team, setting appropriate performance goals and objectives, undertaking performance appraisals and continuous performance reviews, identifying opportunities for team members to develop their skills and talent. What We Are Looking For: Proven experience in leading the development and delivery of production applications using Java and the Spring Framework. Strong expertise in full-stack development, including frontend development (ideally React using Typescript), system architecture and performance optimization. Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable, and testable code, with experience using testing frameworks such as JUnit and familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD). Experience with cloud computing platforms (Azure preferred but not essential). Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles. Proven experience in managing and developing technical teams, including setting performance goals and conducting regular appraisals. Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach team members, fostering individual career growth and technical skill development. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of effective collaboration across teams and stakeholders. Experience in Agile development methodologies, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and team retrospectives. What’s in it for you? 26 days holiday
