An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 5 Orthopaedic Plaster Technician with BOA Casting Certificate and excellent communication skills to work as part of the Fracture Clinic team. The Fracture Clinic is a diverse, multidisciplinary environment that requires flexible and adaptable skills, an aptitude to learn, and a motivation to develop your own skills. We require individuals who are forward-thinking, well-organised, and have a positive attitude towards flexibility and change. This is a 37.5 hour post working in the Fracture Clinic. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing individual patient care needs and developing, implementing, and evaluating plans of care in accordance with agreed policies and professional guidelines, providing a plastering service for the orthopaedic ward, clinics, theatres, fracture clinics, and Emergency department. Main duties of the job
Work autonomously undertaking holistic assessment examinations to implement management plans for patients. Use specialist knowledge and skills to provide treatment to patients attending the Plaster Room and assist the Lead Orthopaedic Practitioner in developing new and current services. Work closely with the Lead Nurse, Managers, and the Multidisciplinary Team to provide high-quality and cost-effective patient-focused services. Participate in the delivery of formal and informal teaching and act as a resource for education and development within the service. Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. Certified BOA Stanmore Orthopaedic Practitioner. Extensive background and experience in working in the casting room. Knowledge
Understanding of current issues in casting services. Previous experience in teaching / training. Skills
Ability to make appropriate clinical decisions. Sound clinical skills within the role's scope of practice.
