R&D Engineering Manager My client is an established key player in the high precision re-manufacturing industry, primarily focused on the design, manufacture and selling of equipment, consumables and knowledge transfer into the global semiconductor, geological and optical engineering markets. Their equipment delivers unrivalled accuracy, precision, and repeatability. They are looking for an experienced R&D / engineering manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers. Approximately 60% of all systems sold incorporate customer specific engineering content, making their output very low volume and high cost. They sell direct and through dealerships worldwide. All engineering design, machining and assembly are conducted on site. Essential characteristics:

A highly driven, results-oriented and organised individual with a proven track record of successfully leading new product development and/or production engineering activities within a small to medium-sized business setting. Excellent project management skills, demonstrating the ability to bring projects in on time and to budget. These projects differ in size and complexity. Lead the R&D team. Degree qualified in Electrical/Electronic or Software engineering, alongside a proven track record of managing the mechanical engineering aspects of electro-mechanical equipment. Able to add technical value to department decision-making, acting as both mentor and facilitator to achieve the departmental and business objectives. Acting as the voice of engineering during design reviews, quality and fault reviews and production meetings. Able to effectively appraise capability and resource constraints and communicate issues with candour to all levels of the business, with the appetite and drive to improve the current status-quo. Lead personal development activities and SMART objective setting for the team, managing, and monitoring of KPI's to ensure individual and collective responsibilities are met. Willingness to assist in engineering data creation where necessary – Electrical schematics / Software applications, CAD and BOM data, wherever applicable and within the scope of prior experience. Desirable characteristics:

Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, or similar precision integrated electromechanical equipment would be beneficial. Customer support experience with in-field issues. Prior involvement in the creation, maintenance, and enforcement of department processes. Experience of the following software packages: Solidworks + Solidworks data management Labview E3 electrical engineering software. Sage x3 or similar MRP system Q-pulse or similar quality management software. Experience of recruitment and onboarding of engineering staff.
