Controls Engineer / PLC Software Engineer

Our client has been established for almost 20 years and is recognized as a leading provider of all aspects of hardware and software design through to robot systems integration and commissioning on a range of bespoke automation solutions for a diverse range of clients throughout the UK. As a result of continued success and an ongoing program of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced Controls Engineer / PLC Software Engineer to complement their highly successful software team.
Responsibilities:
Manage individual projects at an engineering and client level in line with lead times and standards. Develop technical documents in line with client requirements and industry standards using technical features, diagrams, and language. Develop bespoke software routines and functions to allow machines/systems to function safely and controlled. Implement safety software for use on systems with safety controllers in accordance with BS-EN13849. Ensure all systems and bespoke software are correctly tested and quality checked prior to shipping and commissioning. Commission bespoke systems both at Head Office and at customer sites within the UK (with occasional overseas visits). Work autonomously and as part of a team, ensuring all relevant Health and Safety legislation is adhered to.
Requirements: Experience in Siemens TIA portal platform AND/OR Allen Bradley Studio 5000. Solid understanding of PLC programming using ladder code, including Functions blocks/add-on instructions, Function calls/routines, and Data blocks (Siemens). Proven skills in HMI screen development and on-site commissioning of industrial automation, including conveyor control, machine interfaces, and machine sequential logic. Strong understanding of safety controllers, drive configuration, and motor control. Proficient in profinet, ethernet, and profibus industrial communications systems. Hold a full UK driving license. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written for technical reports) and customer-facing skills at all levels. Qualified to HND or above in a relevant electrical, electromechanical, or controls qualification. Demonstrable experience of at least 3 years in the above activities.
