About the Job Sensata Technologies is a leading industrial technology company that develops sensors, sensor-based solutions, including controllers and software, and other mission-critical products to create valuable business insights for customers and end users. We are currently recruiting for an Application Engineer to join our Antrim Team. The Applications Engineer will interface directly with our customers. The role works as part of a team of other Applications Engineers and Account Managers who work closely with Sensata’s global engineering, sales, and other cross-functional disciplines. The candidate should have technical expertise on the specific application relevant to each customer. General Responsibilities: Utilizes Sensata product knowledge and application understanding to support new business opportunities and ensure the best product offering. Strong knowledge of key applications in growth segments at customers. Presents in regular meetings with customers to emphasize spec alignment and technical problem solving. Supports existing customers on new product development projects under development. Communicates business and technical information between key individuals at the customer and Sensata. Provides strategic technical assessment of new business opportunities in cooperation with product teams. Evaluates opportunities based on the entire value chain, considering several criteria, such as technological differentiators, strategic fit, profitability, and timing. Participates in design review sessions, both customer and internal, as required. Conducts drawing and specification reviews with customers. Ensures projects meet customer requirements and quality standards. Helps develop and refine product configurations to meet application needs that capitalize on the company's strengths and products. Provides onsite technical assistance to the sales team at industry trade shows and customer demonstrations and tech days. Negotiates technical specifications and compliance considering Sensata product offerings and the application needs. Establishes and maintains customer engineering relations, focusing on key subject matter experts and technical decision makers at customers. Physically presents at the customer on a regular basis to build relationships and for key decision moments during a project. Experience / Qualifications: A technical university degree required (i.e., Bachelor's degree) or equivalent relevant work experience. Strong technical skills, ideally in automotive or related industries involving high voltage components (such as contactors, fuses, battery distribution units) or sensing solutions, e.g., Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems. Communication and Influence Skills: Actively listens beyond product needs. Understands and influences customer hardware architecture to position Sensata’s solutions across multiple technologies. Customer Knowledge: Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the customer’s businesses, organizational structure, value drivers, products and services, and competitive market positions. Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands. Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity. Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards. Willingness to travel (approximately 35%). Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). You will be part of the European Vehicle Sales team and report to the Supervisor Application Engineer. Experience within the Automotive sector is required.
