To be successful as a Senior Database Engineer, you should have: Experience as a Principal Level Database Administrator, focusing on PostgreSQL and similar database technologies such as Oracle or MS-SQL. Experience with DevOps automation tools including code versioning (Git), JIRA, Ansible, Containers, and Kubernetes (OpenShift). In-depth knowledge of database CI/CD tools and their implementation. Proven expertise as a subject matter expert in PostgreSQL, serving as the highest level of technical escalation for complex database issues. A track record of managing database engineering teams. Highly valued skills may include cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP), experience in a financial environment, and familiarity with system configuration management tools such as Chef or Ansible for database server configurations. Solid experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) for automation and migration tasks. Key critical skills relevant for success, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and expertise in digital and technology. In this role, you will: Lead and manage engineering teams effectively, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture to achieve project goals and meet organizational objectives. Oversee timelines, team allocation, risk management, and task prioritization to ensure successful delivery of solutions within scope, time, and budget. Mentor and support team members in their professional growth, conduct performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement. Evaluate and enhance engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency and optimize team productivity. Collaborate with business partners, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions for cohesive product development. Enforce technology standards, facilitate peer reviews, and implement robust testing practices to ensure high-quality solution delivery. Description

This role will be based in our Knutsford and Glasgow offices. As part of our team, you will be expected to advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment. You will manage and mitigate risks in support of our control and governance agenda and demonstrate leadership and accountability in managing risks related to your team's work. Additionally, you will contribute to achieving the goals of the business by demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of organizational functions and collaborating with other business support areas. Your role will entail creating solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought, performing in-depth analysis, and developing innovative solutions through extensive research.
