Playground Games is looking to grow their world-class Forza team with a talented Build Engineer at any level of experience on a contract basis. The Build Engineer is able to design, develop and maintain the build server pipelines and infrastructure required to deliver a AAA title.

About the role: The role will have you expanding, managing and maintaining continuous integration build pipelines within a large build server installation in an automated and efficient manner. Your aim is to streamline the development process across the studio.

Working within a team of highly skilled developers, you will be responsible for ensuring that automated content and code builds remain reliable and efficient and are adapted to suit the needs of the AAA title. You will use telemetry, scripting, pipeline architecture and your knowledge of the latest and most useful trends in the industry to do this. Engineers with a strong desire to provide excellent customer service are ideal for this role. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, so your ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively is vital. You are highly motivated and approachable, with a strong desire to ensure the development process is the best it can be.

This is a contract role based at our state-of-the-art facilities in Royal Leamington Spa. We have a hybrid work model in place with a minimum of 3 days a week in studio. Relocation assistance is available if required.

What you’ll do:

Report to engineering leadership on the success/failure rate of our pipelines and infrastructure, suggesting actions to improve overall stability

Collaborate with content, engineering and QA disciplines to design and maintain pipelines to ensure content is built correctly and available promptly

Automate the building, testing and delivery of content to internal and external stakeholders

Maintain and improve our continuous integration processes and custom build farm

What you’ll bring:

Experience of writing and maintaining pipelines for continuous integration systems such as TeamCity

Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell

Knowledge of source control systems such as Perforce

Ability to read, understand and maintain object-oriented code (e.g. C#/Java)

Experience of using and writing Configurations as Code such as Kotlin would be advantageous
