11 POSITION SUMMARY & KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative
Hardware Team Lead
with a robust background in Mechanical Engineering and preferred insight into elements which contribute to “Total Cost of Ownership” to join our team. As an integral part of our engineering team, the ideal candidate will manage and steer a selection of projects which will drive cost efficiency, improve performance and streamline the product lifecycle. This role offers a great variety of technical design involvement, problem solving, and project management with full exposure to many cross functional disciplines and a broad experience of the business. Key Responsibilities: Team/Project Management:
Confidently lead and mentor a global team to exceed cost efficiency targets driven by our customer needs. This role would influence decision making and drive best practice on team projects to ensure targets are met. Problem-Solving:
Utilize new strategies, techniques and tools for troubleshooting. Cost Analysis:
Understanding cost implications of decisions being made and building this into the design approval process. Product Development:
Lead and participate in the product development process from ideas and concepts to Proof of Concept activities, ensuring designs meet performance, cost and reliability targets. Innovative Design Solutions:
Encourage the team to view technical solutions from different perspectives and think outside the box. Prototyping & Proof of Concept:
Create and test prototypes to validate new thinking, concepts and designs. Collaboration:
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Services and Manufacturing to ensure a successful solution before releasing. Documentation:
Prepare detailed documentation to support the development and integration of the new solution in production, or field units. This would be formally approved using the correct systems with all relevant information to allow for correct implementation. Sustainability:
Apply principles of sustainability into the design phase to further improve the new solution and products. Basic Qualifications: Education:
A Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related field (Hons 2:1 or better preferred). Experience:
Minimum of 6 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, and Product Design and Development. Technical Skills:
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. Creo or SolidWorks Preferred), FEA tools and other engineering software, High-level understanding of part design, in particular, sheet metal parts, plastic mouldings, and mechanisms, as well as a good knowledge of tooling and parts manufacture. As part of this drawing, dimensioning and tolerancing experience is required. Knowledge:
Strong understanding of next-generation Mechanical systems, materials and Manufacturing Processes. This role would also benefit from team management experience and use of successful managing tools. Communication:
Excellent Verbal & written communication skills and ability to present to customers/ and or product management as well as communicating to team members. Team Player:
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross- functions teams internally and externally. This role collaborates with multiple stakeholders to ensure clear expectations throughout project development and standards of excellence are achieved. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Project management and leading engineering teams. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
