3803 Job Purpose: As a Design Team Leader, this role is responsible for the development projects of New and Special products in accordance with the business product prioritisation process. This involves working closely with the technical project team to ensure new products adhere to industrial engineering standards and that all projects are delivered to the Lucy Electric roadmap timeline and to Budget. Job Context: Lead and guide team members to actively participate in the GR process, ensuring deliverables are submitted on time to meet GR deadlines. Maintain up-to-date GR documentation, including DFMEA, project plans, and budgets. Proactively manage project risks and issues, creating contingency plans as necessary. Communicate with high-level stakeholders to keep them updated on potential project risks. Responsible for effective planning and delegation of workload for their team members. Work closely with the Technical and Project management team to prioritise testing effectively and allocate resources in line with project requirements. Improve, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team performance. Set clear objectives and conduct regular performance management meetings for all team members. Demonstrate company values, inspire teams, and foster a learning environment. Foster an environment of continuous improvement and openness to change. Key Accountabilities: Accountable for New and Special project delivery on time and within budget, in alignment with Lucy Electric’s medium-term plan and annual budget roadmap. Accountable for developing high-quality, cost-effective products that meet the MRD requirements. Accountable for maintaining and acting upon project test results. Accountable for ensuring all new and special products are designed for efficient manufacturing. Accountable for setting and achieving your own objectives, as well as those of your team members. Accountable for developing, monitoring, and reporting on your team's key performance indicators (KPIs). Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience Minimum: Degree equivalent in mechanical or electrical engineering. Comprehensive knowledge in Medium and/or Low voltage switchgear. Experienced in switchgear products, with a solid understanding of relevant IEC standards. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of material strength and is committed to applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to all product development. Highly effective risk management capability and application. Demonstrable people management skills. Driven to share knowledge and ability to encourage others to do the same. Ability to listen and be open to new ideas and the ideas of others. Good financial acumen. Experienced in leading multi-disciplined teams. Ability to delegate authority to the lowest level, allowing people to do their jobs within agreed parameters. Significant experience of working in a multi-national, matrix organisation. Strong communications and presentation skills, creative with a keen commercial awareness. A Team Leader able to influence others at all levels of the organisation.
