Maintain production drawings for existing and new product introduction. Conduct Design / manufacturing feasibility for new and existing products to ensure cost effective manufacturing solutions. Redesign existing products to incorporate new processes and optimise manufacturing efficiency. Take existing 2D CAD designs, convert them to 3D CAD, and process them for laser cutting. Assist with the production of prototypes and measure their suitability for production. Work cross-functionally to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across design and production. Design and optimize tools, jigs, and fixtures to support manufacturing and assembly processes. Produce and maintain detailed technical drawings, BOMs, and process guides. Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Ensure prototypes and final designs meet quality standards and are production ready. Required experience/skills/qualifications:
Proficiency on 3D CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, or similar. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrication, and assembly. Solid understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA). Hands-on problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Experience with Radan or similar laser cutting software. 2-3 years of experience in toolmaking, jig, or fixture design. Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with FEA tools for design analysis.
