We are recruiting a chartered building surveyor to join our Bristol-based Building Consultancy team. This is an opportunity for a building surveyor to support a broad range of building surveying services predominantly in the South West but also on a national basis as required. The successful candidate will have demonstratable experience in a commercial building consultancy environment. The position will suit an aspiring, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual looking to make a positive impression within an equally ambitious and growing business.

The main function of the role will be client facing and assist in generating fees through the management and development of existing and new projects, whilst contributing towards the achievement of financial and other objectives of the Building Consultancy and Commercial teams within the company. You will be working as part of successful team delivering a high quality of service to our client base.

The successful building surveyor will join a team of five (from surveyor to partner level), in Bristol which thrives as a hub office, offering a multi-disciplinary service across Commercial, Rural, P&D and Infrastructures. There is opportunity to work with a broad range of clients including National Trust, Royal Mail Group, Scope, local councils as well as private client work. The Bristol office has a great buzz about it, with many social events including table tennis, fundraising and sports to balance out the busy pace of the office.

Main tasks:

To assist and at the discretion of the Partner in charge to assume direct responsibility for carrying out:

Provide a full building surveying service to the internal and external clients

Provide clear, consistent and well-reasoned advice to clients on relevant building surveying matters including their professional advisors.

Be able to support other members of the Building Consultancy Team and assist with workload where necessary.

Carry out due diligence reporting of all types of commercial buildings and at times residential properties.

Preparation and negotiation of Schedules of Dilapidations and other relevant lease events.

Preparation of Schedules of Condition and subsequent negotiations.

Deliver design, specification and project management services for a variety of different projects including refurbishment, renovation and new build to commercial and residential premises.

Assist with the delivery of CDM Co-ordination for in-house and external clients.

Advise clients on preventative maintenance and planned maintenance strategy including taking the project through to implementation.

What will it take to be successful?

You will be a motivated and ambitious building surveyor, who is RICS chartered, with experience in a commercial consultancy setting, ideally with experience of advising on residential and agricultural assets as well. You will have an understanding of the local and national markets to support your advice the clients. As an experienced building surveyor, you have the ability to manage multiple projects as well as producing reports across the different sites. You will be excellent at managing clients both internally and externally, with the ability to also support and coach junior members of the team. A driving license is essential for this role.
