SSEN Transmission, part of the SSE Group, is recruiting for a Marine Consents & Environment Manager (MCEM) or an Assistant MCEM within the Consents and Environment team, depending on the level of qualification and experience of applicants for the role. The key duties & responsibilities will include: - Developing and consenting significant subsea cable infrastructure in Europe, contributing to the UK's energy transmission infrastructure and 2030 goals. - Working on a range of projects from short interisland cables to several hundred-kilometre long HVDC systems and offshore platforms. - Leading the development of marine habitat restoration projects, committing to 10% Biodiversity Net Gain across all projects. - Requiring a detailed understanding of the marine environment, with experience in the subsea cable or offshore renewables sectors, including site selection, consenting, and installation processes. - Commitment to the on-call system for marine projects and travel to work sites and vessels. To be considered for this role, we would love applicants to have the following: - Strong understanding of marine regulatory regimes and legislation, particularly in the Scottish context. - Excellent understanding of marine survey data and ability to interpret it in relation to marine habitats and impact mitigation. - Clear and concise communication skills to engage with stakeholders across various disciplines. - Ability to think critically and plan strategically, assessing information and determining its value. - Excellent written English, with experience in drafting and reviewing technical documents to a high professional standard.
