We are seeking an energetic, innovative, and skilled Psychologist with a passion for working with Young Adults at North London Foundation NHS Trust's Young People Service as a clinician within the Transitions and Personality Disorder provision (Islington). This is a secondment opportunity, with funding in place for a Psychologist to cover the substantive post holder's maternity leave for 4 months. The Trust's Young People & Transitions Service works with young adults (18-25), providing Consultation, Liaison, Assessment, and Treatment around Young Adults' mental health.
The Personality Disorder Service is a multi-disciplinary team consisting of a specialist Community Team, Therapies Team, and Liaison Team. The service provides secondary care interventions to people diagnosed with personality disorder. This post provides an opportunity to work as part of a supportive, reflective, and motivated team, committed to working compassionately with individuals facing severe personality disorder diagnoses, specializing in young adults.
Main Duties of the Job
The post-holder will be responsible for championing the needs of young people (18 to 25) in the Personality Disorder Service. Responsibilities include: Influencing the culture and practice of the service. Providing assessment and treatment interventions for young people. Facilitating the smooth transition of young people from CAMHS to adult services. Offering supervision, advice, and consultation on young people's psychological care to various teams and non-professional carers.
Job Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include: Providing reports and communicating sensitively about assessment, formulation, and treatment plans of young people. Liaising with health and social care staff from various agencies in the care provided to young people. Conducting psychological assessments using interviews and formal psychometric methods. Conducting joint assessments with Core Teams for personality-related difficulties. Developing a PICT model (Psychologically Informed Consultation and Training) for primary care management of young people presenting with PD. Facilitating engagement of young people (18-25) with the service. Working closely with local CAMHS services to ensure smooth transitions to adult services.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications Essential Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology and current registration with the Health Professions Council as a clinical psychologist or a counselling psychologist OR qualification in another mental health profession (e.g., mental health nursing, occupational therapy) and qualification in cognitive behaviour therapy. Desirable Completion of further post-qualification specialist training relevant to the post. Experience Essential Experience of psychological assessment and treatment in various care settings. Experience working with a wide variety of client groups and presenting problems. Experience with young people with severe and enduring mental health problems. Skills Essential Experience of working with young people who struggle to engage with mainstream services. Significant post-qualification experience with the client group. Experience in the supervision of evidence-based psychological interventions. Experience in teaching, training, and/or supervision. Experience in psychological assessment and therapy in different cultural contexts.
