JOB DESCRIPTION Sava is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technician to join our mechanical engineering team and aid in the development of biosensors. This is a multifaceted role, requiring an understanding of device development, ability to carry out independent testing, hands-on assembly skills and practical problem-solving abilities. RESPONSIBILITIES The primary duties of this role are as follows: Supporting the engineering team in test activities, ranging from R&D investigative experiments to device verification testing. Component inspection and device assembly using a variety of tools and equipment (e.g. 3D printers, UV-gluing kits, laser cutters, optical microscopes etc.). Documentation to support the engineering process (e.g. SOPs, test reports, inspection reports, risk assessments, COSHH assessments etc.). Workshop and inventory management. This opportunity will allow you to learn a wide variety of transferable skills at an extremely fast pace. You will be working closely with the science and engineering teams. Sava will provide adequate training for the role. REQUIREMENTS Keen attention to detail, with a focus on maintaining high quality standards. High level of initiative – spotting and raising issues, proactively improving processes and actively communicating ideas. Strong motivation and accountability, particularly in supporting developmental tasks. Strong time management skills. Proficiency in daily computer tasks, including use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and in the form of written technical updates. Excellent organisational abilities. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating patience and collaboration. A university education is preferred but not a strict requirement for this role. PREFERRED Experience working in engineering workshops and/or scientific laboratories. Experience following detailed work instructions, protocols, and industry standards. Experience with hands-on assembly work, particularly with small, detailed components. Familiarity with inspection tools (e.g. callipers, micrometres, microscopes) to inspect parts for quality and accuracy. Basic understanding of experimental methods and data analysis.
