We are looking for an experienced OpenStack Cloud Engineer to lead our Cloud Platform team in building and optimising large-scale private cloud infrastructures. The ideal candidate is an expert in designing, building, managing, and scaling OpenStack environments with a deep understanding of open-source technologies and a passion for hardware automation and cloud services. This role is central to ensuring our private cloud is robust and adaptive, meeting current needs and future technological advancements. This leader will be pivotal in driving efficiency, security, and scalability across our platforms internationally. This role can be based fully remotely anywhere in the UK or can operate Hybrid from our Liverpool HQ. Please note that successful candidates will need to undergo relevant Security Clearance checks. You are an expert in working with OpenStack and related technologies. You have extensive experience in designing and implementing complex cloud solutions and possess strong scripting and automation skills. You are knowledgeable about infrastructure as code (IAC) methodologies and have hands-on experience with tools like Terraform and Ansible. You are a strong communicator and a proven leader, capable of driving continuous improvement and sharing best practices within and across teams. About the Team:

This is a brand-new team that will be responsible for building out and maintaining world-class private clouds in private data centres across the UK and Europe. As the first member of this function, you will have the opportunity to shape the direction and culture of the team. About the Role:

Lead the architecture, implementation, and ongoing management of scalable and robust private clouds using OpenStack and Canonical Metal-as-a-service (MaaS) Develop automation processes for provisioning, configuring, and managing bare metal servers in a large-scale environment Collaborate with internal teams to design and improve tools that automate and streamline infrastructure deployment and operations Utilise infrastructure as code (IAC) methodologies and contribute high-quality, well-documented code using languages such as Bash, Python, Go, etc. Drive continuous improvement by staying updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices Ensure the security, stability, and scalability of the system architecture Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams Requirements:

Proficiency in working with OpenStack components and services Proficiency in working with KVM and Metal as a Service platforms and services Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex solutions on a large scale Strong skills in scripting and automation using languages such as Bash, Python, Go, etc. Familiarity with infrastructure as code (IAC) methodologies, particularly using Terraform Expertise in utilising Ansible for configuration management and deployment Hands-on experience with configuring and integration of cloud storage technologies such as Ceph Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix systems including system administration and scripting Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and security Experience with Operating Systems design, deployment, and debugging, especially in Linux and Windows environments Exceptional problem-solving capabilities with a proven track record of overcoming technical challenges Effective communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with team members, stakeholders, and external partners Qualifications and Experience:
