We have an excellent internship (13 month placement) running from Summer 2025 - Summer 2026 for an ambitious and enthusiastic individual. The successful candidate will currently be undertaking their penultimate year of graduate study and will join the UK Automation Engineering team at Cytiva Harbourgate, Portsmouth UK, before returning for their graduating year.

The team is focused on the development and sustainment of standard automation solutions for Biotechnology processing equipment. This internship will allow you to develop and implement your engineering knowledge and introduce you to standard development practices.

Responsibilities: Involved in the development and implementation of standard automation platform solutions, automation system programming standards and automation software validation procedures. Support the maintenance and enhancement of the team's development environments including networks, software tools and associated hardware. Undertake both simulated and at system software testing in support of library updates or system developments. Assist in the keeping of records, upgrade rollouts, version control and maintenance of platform solutions. Support automation solution concepting for new product developments or issue resolution.

Experience/Skills/Qualifications: You are working towards a degree in an engineering discipline ideally focused in areas such as software development, information technology, electrical engineering, automation technology, and / or process engineering. Past exposure to industrial automation software (e.g. Siemens, Rockwell, Ignition…) useful. Experience with programming and scripting languages such as C#, Java, Python and / or SQL a distinct advantage. A passion for engineering and a natural curiosity to thrive in a research and development environment. Remains calm and organised under pressure.
